چکیده

Histochemical evidence suggests that the amorphous stromal deposits of corneal granular dystrophy are composed essentially of a non-collagenous protein or polypeptide complex, the precise nature of which, however, is unknown (Seitz and Goslar, I963; Garner, I969). Electron microscopy fortunately enables a further dimension of this material to be studied, and the present report gives the findings in a corneal disc removed from an established case of granular dystrophy during a repeat keratoplasty after the recurrence of the disorder in the original graft.

Corneal electrolysis for recurrence of corneal stromal dystrophy after keratoplasty.

AIMS To evaluate corneal electrolysis as a treatment for recurrent diffuse corneal opacities at the host-graft interface of the stroma or at the subepithelial region in two types of granular corneal dystrophy (GCD). METHODS Recurrence developed at the host-graft interface of the stroma after lamellar keratoplasty in a patient with Avellino corneal dystrophy (ACD). At surgery, the deep aspect ...

A pathogenic variant in the transforming growth factor beta I (TGFBI) in four Iranian extended families segregating granular corneal dystrophy type II: A literature review

Objective(s): Granular and lattice corneal dystrophies (GCDs & LCDs) are autosomal dominant inherited disorders of the cornea. Due to genetic heterogeneity and large genes, unraveling the mutation is challenging.Materials and Methods: Patients underwent comprehensive clinical examination, and targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) was...

Simultaneous Transplantation of Limbal Stem Cells May Reduce Recurrences of Granular Dystrophy After Corneal Transplantation

Histochemistry of corneal granular dystrophy.

Since the introduction by Jones and Zimmerman (I 959, I 96 I) of a reliable histological scheme for the separate recognition of each of the three major categories of corneal stromal dystrophy, the way has been open for precise characterization of the nature of the lesions in each of these conditions. This has been largely accomplished for the macular and lattice dystrophies, the former having b...

Recurrence of Thiel-Behnke corneal dystrophy: an electron microscopic study.

The hereditary Thiel-Behnke corneal dystrophy, first described in 1967, is frequently confused with Reis-Bucklers dystrophy. Both conditions affect Bowman’s layer and can be difficult to differentiate both clinically and histopathologically. Previously, electron microscopic studies of corneal dystrophies affecting Bowman’s layer identified characteristic ‘‘curly fibres,’’ but it was unclear whe...
